Invitation to submit

The 2018 European Conference on Ambient Intelligence (AmI 2018) has a focus on the role of Ambient Intelligence "Towards a Smart and Human-Centered Internet of Things". It will take place in Larnaca, Cyprus, from 12-14 November 2018. We invite submissions of full and short papers as well as posters, presenting original research. AmI 2018 is an interdisciplinary venue for leading international researchers, designers, and practitioners that present and discuss new results in Ambient Intelligence.

The Proceedings of the 2018 European Conference on Ambient Intelligence (AmI 2018) will be published by Springer in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.

AmI 2018 will build on the success of its predecessor conferences, which started in 2003 with the EUSAI-event in Veldhoven, The Netherlands, and later included editions of the European Conference on Ambient Intelligence, and the joint International Conference on Ambient Intelligence, which together sum a total of 14 of the most relevant events on Ambient Intelligence.

AmI 2018 will benefit from the strengths of this series like the tradition of being high-quality, rigorous and well-organized conferences. But it will also build on the experience gained and even on the weaknesses identified in past editions. We believe this conference should not only be an opportunity for publication, but also a means of community building and joint collaboration.

Therefore, for the 2018 edition, we are going to put the focus on quality, openness, synergy and usefulness of the conference, over size and other considerations.

Best Paper Award

The Best Paper Award is graciously sponsored by Springer.

Submission requirements

Papers must be anonymized to facilitate blind review. Authors are encouraged to minimize any references that may reveal the identity of the authors and their institutions. Relevant references to an author's previous research should not be suppressed but instead referenced in a neutral way. Submissions will be accepted and managed using using EasyChair. All papers and posters will be reviewed by at least three Program Committee members.

Paper submissions should respect the maximum number of pages for each category (including figures and references). All accepted full papers and posters will appear in the conference proceedings published by Springer. Papers must be submitted in PDF format adhering to the Springer format provided. Confidentiality of submissions is maintained during the review process. After acceptance, a final, revised camera-ready version of the paper will be required in electronic form for the proceedings.

Full papers (max. 16 pages)

Full papers should report original work in the field of Ambient Intelligence targeting any of the featured conference themes. Papers should clearly state contribution(s) in the paper and the abstract. Papers making one clear, significant contribution are more likely to be accepted than papers making several lesser contributions. Papers must identify and cite relevant published work and explain how the paper furthers state of the art within the field of Ambient Intelligence. Full paper submissions must not exceed 16 pages in length including references. Full papers must be presented at the conference in order to be included in the proceedings.

Short papers (6 pages)

Short papers should report original work addressing one of the featured conference themes. Compared to full papers, short papers can be more exploratory and preliminary in nature, provide only a brief summary of related work, but present a concrete contribution of a narrower and specific scope. Short papers must identify and cite briefly relevant published work and explain how it furthers state of the art. Short papers are submitted as notes that must not exceed 6 pages including references. Short papers will also be presented as Posters at the conference including a short pitch presentation.

Formatting and submission guidelines

Paper submissions for all categories should follow the Springer guidelines for Proceedings. Final camera-ready versions must be accompanied by a signed copyright form.
